The project focused on designing a pop-up coffee experience for Bili Hu, a brand rooted in the coffee heritage of Chikmagalur. The aim was to create a temporary retail space for events such as weddings and celebrations that could communicate the brand’s story, craftsmanship, and culture while offering an engaging coffee experience.

Design

The pop-up was designed as a modular and immersive space inspired by traditional Kolam patterns, symbolizing hospitality and connection. The visual identity used Bili Hu’s brand colours—black, red, and white—along with materials such as teak wood, marble sunmica, and matte laminates to create a refined yet warm environment. The structure was designed to be easy to assemble and adaptable to different event spaces.

Result

The final design created a memorable brand experience where visitors could interact with coffee brewing, explore the story of Indian coffee, and connect with the brand’s heritage. The pop-up successfully blended cultural inspiration with contemporary design, making the space both functional and visually distinctive.

The pop-up store has been designed in a way in which it can easily change its size using L-angles and flat plates, making it flexible for any space. The walls can be taken apart and rearranged smoothly for smaller setups.

The store will feature an intricate Kolam pattern, a symbol of local tradition and culture, weaving a deep connection to the region’s roots. The design will use a sophisticated colour palette of black, red, and white, evoking both luxury and simplicity.

Bili Hu is rebranding with new colors, so the pop-up store can reflect this by updating the color strip between the Kolam pattern, swapping the red for new shades.
